1978 Land Rover 100in V8 Swiss Army Prototype - BAC 779T - getting fired up by David Pile for the Dunsfold Collection weekend. Automotive trademarks are the property of the trademark holder, authorization may be needed for some uses. --- Vehicle Information: Vehicle belongs to the Dunsfold Collection of Land Rovers: Chassis number 100S2M04X, registration number BAC 779T, engine type 3.5 V8 petrol 24V, gearbox type 4-speed. --- Vehicle History: This is one of a round 25 100in prototypes for the Swiss and French Army in 1978. Originally built as LHD, BAC was converted to RHD in the early eighties. A 24 Volt screened electrical system is used. There were quite a few body styles made, including Hard Top, Soft Top. and Station Wagon. The chassis were a one of for these vehicles, the axles were Range Rover, as were the engine and gearbox, some were fitted with automatic gearboxes and 2.25 petrol engines.The 100 inch wheelbase has inspired many enthusiasts to take an old Range Rover chassis and fit a Land Rover style body.
