Based around a 1 Ton military spec 109 24 Volt, it has amphibious capabilities. This LR floats! A small propeller is mounted on te rear propshaft, the air bags were inflated from the exhaust. This was to be a multi role vehicle. The APGP can be a radio station, wombat carrier or 110 Volt power tool source and could be stacked two high for air transport. About 26 of these vehicles were built for troop trials in 1964 but never entered service. This is the first vehicle to find its way into the Dunsfold Collection, purchased in 1968 via Ruddington military auctions. In 1998 for the 50th Anniversary of Land Rover the mad idea came up to swim the APGP, which turned out to be an interesting challange as the flotation bags were by then already over 30 years old. Steering in the water is interesting as it relies on the front tyres as rudders, wind could be disastrous.
